“Fear of death is illogical. Fear of death is what keeps us alive.”
After the first “Star Trek Beyond” trailer received heavy criticisms from fans back in December, Paramount Pictures finally released a new teaser during a special fan event in Hollywood that looks more promising.
This summer the third installment in the J.J. Abrams-launched franchise will hit theaters. The latest promo of the film has more action-packed scenes, is more plot-driven and offers a closer look at Idris Elba’s villain character Krall and his encounter with Zoe Saldaña’s Uhura. Fans also get introduced to the alien warrior Jaylah, played by Sofia Boutella and see how Captain Kirk struggles with his identity as he compares himself to his father.
In the Justin Lin-directed flick the Enterprise crew will explore the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin return for the third film.
During the “Star Trek Beyond” event, the studio also announced that the film would have its world premiere on July 20 during San Diego Comic Con. The celebration will have appearances by the film’s cast and crew and a live concert by the San Diego symphony orchestra.
“Star Trek Beyond” lands in theaters on July 22.
